February Challenge: Remember
Dearest Joyn Community,
This newsletter has taken on many forms over the months, arriving in your inbox with imperfect timing and ever-evolving forms. If you're still here reading, thank you for sticking with me.
There is so much happening in our world and in our country right now. So much noise, so much urgency, so much heartbreak layered on top of the everyday responsibilities of being human. Some days it can feel overwhelming, like no matter how much we care, how deeply we feel, it’s hard to know where our energy even belongs. That sense of helplessness can quietly creep in, settling into the body before we have time to name it.
I’ve been feeling it too. And when the weight feels like too much, I find myself coming back to one simple word: remember.
Remember what we stand for.
Remember what we believe in.
Remember that even when we can’t change everything, we can still change something.
Remembering doesn’t mean ignoring what’s hard. It means grounding ourselves in what’s true. That kindness still matters. That care ripples outward. That our presence, right here, in our own communities, has real power.
Sometimes making a difference looks like volunteering or showing up in tangible ways. And sometimes it looks much quieter: a smile offered to a stranger, a genuine compliment about someone’s character, a moment of patience where it would be easier to shut down. These small acts may feel insignificant, but they are how we stay human. They are how we keep our hearts open.
January often arrives with pressure to reinvent, to hustle, to chase something new. To become “better” versions of ourselves overnight. But as we step into February, I want to offer a different invitation.
Let this be a time to remember.
Remember who you are beneath the striving.
Remember the practices that steady you.
Remember the love that exists in your life right now.
This is a month to nurture. To soften. To tend to ourselves and to one another with a little extra care. To move gently. To rest when needed. To let your yoga practice be a place of remembrance rather than performance. A place where you don’t have to prove anything, only arrive.
If things feel heavy, let your practice be simple. Low to the ground. Honest. Supportive. Place a hand on your heart. Take a steady breath. Let yourself feel held.
Please know you’re not alone in this season. We’re remembering together what matters, what connects us, and what allows us to keep showing up with compassion, even when the world feels chaotic.
